Soap making and garden tour

Grating the soap to make soap balls.

These dry flower petals are for color.

Bethany helps grate while I snap a few pictures.

Josiah: our soap tester :)

I add a little water and some essential oils to the grated soap.

Forming the ball.

Next, I roll it into a ball and then roll the dried flower petals into it.

I place them on a rack when finished.

Now I let them sit for 1-2 weeks. I'd like to mention that these soaps are great dirt removers, lathers nicely, and softens your hands because of the oils in them.

Seedlings: Gods glory in action!!!

It is amazing that all the information needed for a plant to grow could fit into one little seed! Only God our Creator could do such a miracle!!

Close-up on the morning glories.

To the bottom left and upper right is statice and the lower right are zinnias

This is a few days later. It is amazing how much they have grown!!

They are looking very floppy right now, but that will change soon!

I have "thinned out" the statice. What that means is I pluck out all the small sickly looking ones leaving one healthy plant in each cup.

Planting... at last!

Let's see.... 153 seeds to plant!

Making holes for the seeds

These are rosemary seeds. They are really small but the lavender seeds were even smaller!
To know what plant is what, we label them.
The holes being filled with seeds.
Getting it done...
Me!

Covering the seeds....

I make sure I label them right away.

Garden Planing...

It is very important to plan your garden. It is very easy!
To start, all you need are seeds, graph paper, and
a pencil.
HERBS:
For this year, the herbs I will be planting
thyme, dill, basil, sage, rosemary, garlic chives,
oregano, parsley, borage, cilantro, and camomile.

To start, I check the back of the seed packet to get the right time
for sowing, to see how long it will take to germinate,
and the spacing that the plant will need to have.
Now I start to plan where I will put each kind of
herb. Each dot is one plant and I have determined
how many I can fit in each row depending on the plant.
Here is a close-up. The line there means
where I end the chives and started the
rosemary. To Make sure I don't forget,
I have placed the name of each plant at
each side of the plot.
Finished with the herbs!

FLOWERS:
For this year, I will be planting nasturtiums
morning glories, larkspurs, lavender, dahlias,
zinnias, pansies, and statice.
The finished product!!!!
