Seedlings!

Here is a picture of our seedlings just popping out of the ground. Isn't the miracle of plant life amazing!

A few weeks later our plants are growing nicely, especially our tomato plants.

We have pepper plants coming out of our ears!

We are using florescent lamps this year and the difference is amazing compared to keeping the plants on a window sill! They grow much faster and have stronger stalks than normal. Also, there are special plant growth lamps that are supposed to be better than florescent lamps, but they are extremely expensive and study shows that there is little or no difference between the two.

Transplanting!

With our tomatoes in desperate need of transplanting it was time to get down to the gritty end of gardening.

This is an extremely delicate process. (I've broken lots of them in the past)

The heat, the monotony. The boring part of the life of the gardener.

A very observant audience.

Your faithful gardener/blogger.

The finished product. phew!

This variety of grape tomato is our best growing plant!

Chicken Coop Tour!

Allow me to give you a tour of the Jubilee Family Egg Farm.

First, let's take a look inside.

On the left you see the nesting boxes, in front the feeder and watering trough,
and on the extreme right are the roosts.

This is the outside view of the nesting boxes.

This is the feeding trough opening for easy refilling.

And over here is the water trough with a 5 gallon bottle for constant refilling

This is where we drain it.

Down here is an opening to pull the bedding trays out.

And of course a rear vent.

Last of all a door for the chickens.

1 little, 2 little, 3 little chickens......

Well that completes the tour! Thank you for visiting!

Building a shed and other hard work!

Saturday was extremely busy with building a shed, mulching,
and getting compost. So this is Dad figuring out who has the best prices.

Trigonometry, Geometry, Physics, Algebra, it's all handy when building a shed.

Enjoying a hearty breakfast before the days work.

What Manly men eat.

While Dad and the others went to get the mulch and supplies,
Rebekah and I had the privilege of digging the foundation.
So I worked and Rebekah took pictures.

Slowly but surly.

This is, (gasp) heavy!

Dumping the load.

After doing this about a dozen times you start to feel exhausted.

Art.

Now that the mulch was in, I rested and took pictures.

"Leave no spot uncovered."

I thought this was a neat shot.

Shoveling it out.

Dad has a Ph.D. in backing up.

"Let's get to work!"

Many hands make light work.

My wonderful brother Noah.
Afterward we got horse manure for the garden.

After that, Dad and Rebekah bought two tons of stone, unloaded it,
and got another load with 30 seconds to spare!

Stone art.

The man, the dream, the toy.

HITACHI, who else?

Noah and Josiah.

Measuring the board.

Is this beam heavy, or is it just me?

"Okay - to the right, to the left, RIGHT THERE!"

Like a hot knife through butter.

"Ha! It fits!"

While others work, others play.

Saw art.

Leveling the stones.

Pondering the situation.

Laying down a sheet of plastic. This ensures that there
will not be any water in the shed.

Hard working Dad.

Brother and Sister.

Shoveling the stones out.(By this time we were all extremely sore.)

After finishing the foundation we cleaned up, returned the
trailer, and collapsed.

I leave you with this picture of one of our chickens.
See y'all next week!
